East Town Black History Mural

This mural serves as a testament to the thriving Black community in Joplin, Missouri. Through it all, this community has managed to succeed and forge their own path. It is important that we recognize Joplin’s pivotal figures and share their tales of success to encourage the Black community while showing them their significance in Joplin’s story. Joplin has had African American influence since the very beginning, and it is time that our historic narratives address this.
